RLSP Welcomes New Industry Cluster Chairs

RLSP Welcomes New Industry Cluster Chairs

The RLSP is delighted to announce the appointment of three new industry cluster chairs. We extend our gratitude to our outgoing chairs for their hard work and dedication in advancing the RLSP's mission in a positive direction.

In the latest round of cluster group elections, the following individuals have been appointed:

Dean Ward, a seasoned leader in the construction industry and CEO of DCW Group, has been appointed Chair of the Construction Cluster.

Alison Haberstraw, Assistant Director for Pobl, the largest Social Housing, Care and Support provider in Wales, will chair the Health and Social Care Cluster.

Andrew Beer, MD at Qualitek Engineering has been appointed Chair of the Manufacturing Cluster.

We look forward to working with our new chairs and benefit from the wealth of experience they bring to their respective sectors. The RLSP board is excited about the knowledge and perspectives they will contribute.

Dean Ward expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "I am honoured to be appointed Chair of the Construction Cluster. The construction industry plays a vital role in our economy, and it is imperative that we invest in developing a skilled workforce to drive future growth. I am committed to working with all stakeholders to create a robust skills pipeline that supports the continued success of our region."

Alison Haberstraw shared her excitement, saying, "I’m thrilled to be appointed as chair of the cluster group for health and social care. I’m passionate about people and ensuring that colleagues have the best start in their roles, so they are fulfilled and aspire to be the best they can. There are many challenges faced by this sector, including our workforce, and I am excited about the opportunities to develop skills and drive the professionalisation of our workforce."

Andrew Beer said “I am excited to be appointed as chair of the manufacturing cluster group. I have spent my entire working life within manufacturing in South Wales, starting many years ago as an apprentice in British Steel (TATA). I am extremely passionate about the development of skills within the sector. I am especially fixated about the need to improve awareness and perception of the manufacturing sector. We have lots of work ahead of us especially with the drive to net zero, the energy transition and the situation with TATA and its supply chain. These alone are huge challenges and opportunities demanding an unprecedented number of skilled individuals. I would like to thank the previous chair, Paul Greenwood for all his hard work and commitment to the role.”

We are confident that the new chairs will bring valuable insights and leadership to their roles, helping to drive the RLSP's mission forward.
